My Sweet Senior Dog got Dementia

0

Dementia is devastating to witness. You feel helpless, and yet so hopeful in different ways, and moments. Sammy’s lack of hearing is getting worse. When he is outside in the garden, you have to clap your hands hard. He doesn’t hear your voice anymore, only hard claps. Then Sammy wakes up, disoriented, but in the next moment amazingly happy to see me.

Even his eyesight is getting worse. When it’s getting dark it is difficult for him to see if the front-door is open. Outside we use flashlight for him. Inside, we put up a light sensor by the door.

In the mornings he is like a puppy, young and playful. Later, he falls asleep like a grandpa. Grandpa Sammy snores peacefully in his dog-bed.

He need a lot of quiet time.

Stress makes him more confused.

No new places.

Sammy gets disoriented.

Is he suffering? No, we don’t think so. He is happy in both worlds ❤️

It’s more difficult for us, knowing he is getting ready for the other world.

That’s Love Friends! That’s Amore!

❤️ please consider adopting Seniors, let them have a peaceful ending.

Help the shelter dogs with homeopathic calmness drops, and medical treatments. Wet food, so their medicine goes down easily. Treats, as a comfort of love.

Let us support those who love us in every special way and moment. That’s Amore!
