Bearded Dragon at the Reptile Veterinarian

0

Our beloved AWL bearded dragon Bobby, had to go to the veterinarian yesterday. I had found a fantastic reptile veterinarian only an hour away from our Animal Sanctuary.
Bobby bleeds from his mouth, especially when he eats grasshoppers!
I am the only one handling Bobby, and during his stay here for 3 weeks, nothing special has happened!

Veterinarian examined him and told me that Bobby got an old fracture on his jaw. The jaw is trying to heal!

We have no idea what or when this could have happened! The former person that cared about him said he thought he bleed from his mouth when shedding.
When rescuing animals, even with a story being told to you about the animal, bring the animal(s) to be examined by an experienced person!

When Bobby came to us a piece of his tail was gone, and several toes missing. We don’t know why…we can only guess. He has been in different homes before finally ending up with us.

For now, he will be without crickets for two weeks, and after that, another examination at the veterinarian!

Summer Vacation

263964_10150223361696512_686306511_7532235_7844568_nI have been told that tomorrow the airfairs are going up in price,  the high season starts. We are many people that want to rest, maybe discover new places, or new food, and read new books.

Workin with animal wellness and welfare (isn’t that the same thing?) summer time is our hardest months with many abandon animals. Many people dump their dogs, or put them out in the garden, alone.

Several of the pets are escaping.

Its heart breaking to see many dogs sitting by their parco waiting for their owner to come home. No one opens the door for several days.

Pets lose their instinct and intuition very quickly, and will not survive many days out alone on the streets. Pets do not know how to get food, since we the humans have kept giving it to them. Children that got homes are being served food by their mother or father, and the children wouldn’t survive, for example, on the streets of Brasil together with homeless children. Children that grew up on the streets had to learn quickly how to survive. Just like the starys, but not the pets.

Start planing for your pets early……That’s Amore!

In the Animal’s Own World are no Depressions

“We think you should start eating antidepressant medicine. You have mild depression? “said the psychologist to me.

I’m depressed!

That could not be true!

Every day I thanked for things and events in my life. Or, did I only gratify my gratitude while my thoughts were somewhere else?

I did not want to medicate myself!

I almost never even ate headache pills.

I watched all my dogs lying in my office in a wonderful peacefulness; “Why are you not depressed?” I thought.

I knew that some animals took antidepressants. Perhaps because of a broken heart, just like we humans.

Animals living with together with people learn your behaviors.

But we who are free will not become depressed, because we live in the present moment. We do not think forward because it does not exist yet.

In addition, we honor our own when it’s time to say good-bye. We do not allow the sorrow to manifest.

The animals do not always reach you. There are many animals waiting for you to call to them for help.

Was my mild depression an awakening?

Is depression an awakening?

When you see depression as something ugly you cannot heal yourself.

Animals do not feel sorry for themselves. Where there is love, is security.

Horses that heal people, echoed within my heart!

I quickly disappeared down to the stable. Grooming the horse and I was in a meditative state.

I prepared to ride my first riding lesson.

Later in the day my nine-year-old son Max outburst, “Mom, what kind of spell did the horse give to you? You’re so happy! ”

I knew I was finally on the right track!

Horses has the Ability to Change our Lives

The amazing way of being a freelance writer is that you get to pick the people you want to met, and the people you want the world to met. I felt like a super mini Oprah, but the feeling of amazing was there.

Mia works  with her horse Brumman. Together they hold courses in mindfulness. However, it is Brumman who holds in all the tools, and finds out very fast in every person what they need to work with.

Amazingly, you dont need any horse experience. Just an open mind and heart.

Even if Brumman had had a difficult past, she moved on without bitterness or aggression. When Mia let her heal in her own tempo and with multivitamins and love, Brumman woke up and started to heal humans.

They do not live in the past. Nor do they selfpitty. Its full force in evey moment, the moment of now!

You can read the whole faccinating artcile in the Swedish Magazine Nara.

Thank you so much Mia Holm for your amazing work together with the horses. And Tuss Bennegard for your amazing pictures and donation to AWL

Our time Together is Limited

My beautiful Leah, the warrior and at the same time so gorgeous sensitive. We don’t have much time together you tell me. You also told me to stop continuing with your surgeries. You are ready to part, even if that will make my heart break. I have to respect your wish and not being selfish. Humanselfish!

I knew this day would come, even if I want eternity. FurryAngels!

You have a majestic age of being 15-18 years old. Still, your mind is amazingly clear. It’s the darn cancer that are eating inside of you, in a fast way!

I found you on the streets when you were probably 10. You were sick and had had many litters. You chased away thieves!

You even chased away thieves in your foster home!

You looked after my children. And you welcomed every rescued dog into our home.

I always respected that you wanted space, not to stay to long in your energy area. You always talked with your eyes, and even now, you are still capable to send an enormous amount of love.

Leah, you are my Queen!

We will make your last time her on Earth to be comfortable. I do respect you!

Amore Mia!
