When Life Gives you Yellow Lemons

0

“In the moment of fear, you can choose. You can always choose.

With calmness and stability you can think clearly. With clarity you can predict the storm, and its strength. By standing still, you can observe your own strength.” said the old Bosnian woman.

After the war had ended, I worked in Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina on helping the growing numbers of homeless and sick animals.

Not much worked in the area, the elevator, and my flat was on eight floor.  My stove had only one burner working, I had to wash my clothes in the bathtub. However, the heat in my apartment was on full speed. It was tropical-hot. In every home I visited, it was tremendously hot. No one wanted to freeze anymore.

Nearly every survivor said the same thing. “The worst feeling was freezing!”

One day I got sick with a high fever. The Bosnian woman, who had become like a mother to me, came up to my apartment on sniper alley. With her she had two beautiful bright yellow lemons, and some leaves with white flowers on. In my small kitchen she started to brew tea with her expensive lemons and handpicked flowers. She smelled the flowers and I saw her smile. In her face I could see the love and thankfulness towards the herbs. She handed me the cup telling me to drink slowly, to feel the strength returning back inside of me.

“When chaos is in the world you have to relearn how to live with Nature.”

Your Pain got a Story to Share

0

Every week I meet people that truly want to express their pain, but don’t know where to begin. Pain can be overwhelming.

Many, and especially women also feel ashamed that they got fooled in a relationship. That they stayed to long in a toxic relationship. They trusted their partner, later being left with ignorance, hurt, economically broke and left with debts. They try to fight, but when the system also lets them down, the pain inside grows.

Not being seen!

When friends stops to talk to you, or helping. Maybe they say they feel guilty. Or nothing at all.

Your pain grows like a tumor and you lose hope.

Every week I meet a woman that has the same story as the woman before her, and before….

Few men, but there are men suffering with pain. Many time they don’t want to talk. It’s ok! The heart doesn’t have any knowledge about time, since time is an illusion.

Same goes for animals. No time.

When adults come to meet our therapy horse, Julia. I leave them alone together. I keep of course, a “mom” eye, and especially on Julia How she reacts in the moment, together with the person.

A horse never lies, and has never been wrong about a human.

Please try not to see your pain as something shameful. Grow in it, earn it, and talk. If it’s to a horse, psychologists or……someone you can trust.

That’s Amore!

Your pain gives you a unique insight into the minds of people who have experienced trauma and heartache.

Depression acts like gas. It can sneak up on anyone, invisible, and poisonous towards your mind, soul, health and heart slowly.

Mental illness doesn’t take a break, neither can we.

I become the people I surrond myself with, and I choose to be around people who motivate  and push me to be a better version of myself every single day.

I am not saying good bye to all my old friends, however, I am welcoming new friends.

Its going to be a good 2020, I have decided.

I am back in school, studying  Children’s Rights in Theory and Practise at Harvard on line.

Still rescuing Animals which will always be a big part of my life. Soon another interesting project is coming up. Structuring up my new life first.

The Inner Voice of Anxiety

0

❤️ I heard her telling the horse to stop biting its feeding bowl. I could hear the young woman’s voice becoming more and more frustrated. The horse kept biting and inhaling air.

I could feel the horse anxiety level rising rapidly, and her inhaling becoming stronger.

The young woman wasn’t bad to the horse, quite the opposite. She didn’t want the horse to get colic (or feel bad)

I knew how much she loved the horse. “If you as a person are making something out of nervousness, and someone is telling you in a harsh way to stop, repeatedly, how would you feel?” I asked the young woman kindly.

“More nervous, I guess.” she answered politely.

She smiled and removed the horse, and tied her beloved horse away from the feeding bucket while saddling her.

The horse stoped biting at the feeding place and with encouraging voice she could get her horse ready without any more problems. Her horse stood calmly.

You want to empower your horse, and your children. To continue building them up from who they are, their background and for your future together.

You are Not Invisible

0

For many years now have I been rescuing all kind of Animals.

I know how it feels not being heard, while in pain.

I know how it feels not being seen, while in pain.

I know how it feels when you seek help and you hear, “so sorry, but we cannot help you! We do not have the resources.”

I know how it feels when you tell your story, over and over and over again. You open door after door, and everything feels right then hopeless.

You want to scream!

You want to cry!

You want to walk away, and never tell anyone your story again.

I have seen the worst neglected animals you possible can imagine. I have brought them with me without thinking or planning.

Hundreds of dogs, and some horses. People has said, “no they are too damage to save!”

Months later, they are astonishing beautiful!

I am so proud over them.

And amazed.

And I am learning through them.

You are not invisible. Please Keep walking, and there will be that one person, which will know and dare to help you.

Goodbye Gracie

It never gets any easier to say goodbye to a friend. Our Gracie, taught me so much about thinking wrong about pet rats.

She actually cured me from being afraid of rats.

Amazing smart!

Amazing clean!

Amazing fun!
