Senior Dog’s Wisdom

Yes, I sleep a lot.

We seniors tend to do that.

But you see, it’s not just sleep.

Our old bodies can’t do much anymore, and in that stillness — something else happens.

The spirit becomes lighter. Free. Like a seed drifting from a flower on the breeze.

That’s when I leave for a little while. I visit the other side.

There’s nothing holding me down — not my body, not any fears.

Just like Grandma, before she left.

Satisfied from the love she received,

and the kindness she gave.

We know the way.

That’s why we’re not afraid.

Our souls are clean — not tangled in the past.

You see, dying doesn’t scare us.

What frightens some is not death itself —

but the prison of their mind, the fear of what’s unknown.

But I’ve been there, many times visiting.

There’s nothing to fear.

And when the time comes, I’ll go softly.

Because, I already know the way.

That’s Amore!
